DLT Entity Registration

Entity registration is the first step in the DLT compliance process. You must register your business on a DLT portal before you can send any SMS in India. This guide provides detailed, operator-specific instructions for Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, and BSNL.

You only need to register on one DLT portal. Your registration is shared across all operators via the DLT blockchain. Choose the portal that best suits your needs based on the comparison below.

Documents Required​

Prepare the following documents before starting registration. Requirements are similar across all portals:

All documents must clearly show the company name exactly as it appears in your Certificate of Incorporation. Any name mismatch between documents is the most common reason for registration rejection.

Registration on Jio TrueConnect​

Step 1: Create an Account​

  1. Visit https://trueconnect.jio.com.
  2. Click Register on the login page.
  3. Select entity type:
    • Enterprise -- If you are sending SMS for your own business.
    • Aggregator -- If you are a service provider sending on behalf of clients (like Exotel).
  4. Enter your mobile number and verify with OTP.
  5. Create a password and log in.

Step 2: Fill Business Details​

Step 3: Upload Documents​

  1. Navigate to the Documents section.
  2. Upload each document in the specified format.
  3. Ensure all files are clear, legible, and within size limits.

Step 4: Review and Submit​

  1. Review all entered details for accuracy.
  2. Accept the terms and conditions.
  3. Click Submit.
  4. Note down your Application Reference Number.

Step 5: Payment​

  1. Jio charges a one-time registration fee (approximately Rs. 5,900 + GST).
  2. Complete the payment via the portal.
  3. Registration review begins after payment confirmation.

Step 6: Approval​

  • Jio reviews your application within 3-5 business days.
  • You receive an email notification upon approval.
  • Log in to the portal to find your Principal Entity ID (PE ID).

Registration on Airtel​

Step 1: Create an Account​

  1. Visit https://www.airtel.in/business/commercial-communication.
  2. Click Register as Enterprise.
  3. Enter your business email and mobile number.
  4. Verify OTP and set your password.

Step 2: Fill Business Details​

Step 3: Upload Documents​

Upload the required documents. Airtel may request additional documents based on entity type:

  • For LLPs: LLP Agreement
  • For Trusts: Trust Deed
  • For Societies: Society Registration Certificate

Step 4: Submit and Pay​

  1. Review all details.
  2. Submit the registration.
  3. Complete the payment (approximately Rs. 5,900 + GST).

Step 5: Approval​

  • Airtel reviews registrations within 5-7 business days.
  • Track status via the portal dashboard.
  • Entity ID is issued upon approval.

Registration on Vodafone-Idea (ViLPower)​

Step 1: Create an Account​

  1. Visit https://www.vilpower.in.
  2. Click Sign Up.
  3. Select Enterprise or Aggregator.
  4. Enter your details and verify via OTP.

Step 2: Fill Business Details​

Step 3: Upload Documents​

Upload all required documents. ViLPower accepts PDF and image formats up to 2 MB per file.

Step 4: Submit and Pay​

  1. Review your application.
  2. Submit for processing.
  3. Pay the registration fee (approximately Rs. 5,900 + GST).

Step 5: Approval​

  • ViLPower typically processes registrations within 3-5 business days.
  • Approval notification is sent via email and SMS.
  • Entity ID is available in the portal dashboard.

Registration on BSNL​

Step 1: Create an Account​

  1. Visit https://www.ucc-bsnl.co.in.
  2. Click Register.
  3. Select your entity type.
  4. Enter your details and verify via OTP.

Step 2: Fill Business Details​

Fill in the same business details as other portals (company name, PAN, GST, address, authorized person).

Step 3: Upload Documents​

Upload the required documents. BSNL may have additional requirements for government entities.

Step 4: Submit and Pay​

  1. Submit the registration.
  2. Complete the payment (fee varies; check the portal for current pricing).

Step 5: Approval​

  • BSNL processing times are typically 5-10 business days.
  • Track status via the portal.
  • Entity ID is issued upon approval.

BSNL's portal may have occasional downtime. If you experience issues, try registering on Jio or ViLPower instead.


After Entity Approval​

Once your entity is approved on any portal:

  1. Save your Entity ID -- This is your Principal Entity ID (PE ID), a unique numeric identifier (e.g., 1101567890000012345).
  2. Register headers -- Proceed to DLT Header Registration to register your sender IDs.
  3. Register templates -- After headers are approved, register templates via DLT Template Registration.
  4. Configure Exotel -- Enter your Entity ID in the Exotel Dashboard under Settings > SMS Settings.

Cross-Portal Synchronization​

Your entity registration is shared across all DLT portals via the blockchain. However, synchronization takes time:

If you register your entity on Jio but your SMS is routed through an Airtel subscriber, the Airtel DLT system must also recognize your entity. Allow adequate sync time before going live.
