DLT Entity Registration
Entity registration is the first step in the DLT compliance process. You must register your business on a DLT portal before you can send any SMS in India. This guide provides detailed, operator-specific instructions for Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, and BSNL.
You only need to register on one DLT portal. Your registration is shared across all operators via the DLT blockchain. Choose the portal that best suits your needs based on the comparison below.
Choosing a DLT Portal
| Portal | Pros | Cons | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jio TrueConnect | Fast approval, intuitive interface, widely used | Occasional high traffic causing slow responses | Most businesses |
| Airtel | Reliable, good support | Interface can be complex | Airtel-heavy customer base |
| Vodafone-Idea (ViLPower) | Fast approval, simple interface | Fewer support resources | Quick setup |
| BSNL | Government entity friendly | Slower processing times | Government organizations |
Documents Required
Prepare the following documents before starting registration. Requirements are similar across all portals:
| Document | Format | Details |
|---|---|---|
| PAN Card | PDF or JPG, max 2 MB | Company PAN (not individual, unless sole proprietor) |
| Certificate of Incorporation | PDF, max 2 MB | Ministry of Corporate Affairs certificate |
| GST Certificate | PDF, max 2 MB | GST registration certificate with GSTIN |
| Authorization Letter | PDF, max 2 MB | On company letterhead, authorizing the registrant |
| Identity Proof | PDF or JPG, max 2 MB | Aadhaar, passport, or voter ID of authorized person |
| Address Proof | PDF, max 2 MB | Utility bill, bank statement, or registered office lease |
All documents must clearly show the company name exactly as it appears in your Certificate of Incorporation. Any name mismatch between documents is the most common reason for registration rejection.

After Entity Approval

1101567890000012345). - Register headers -- Proceed to DLT Header Registration to register your sender IDs.
- Register templates -- After headers are approved, register templates via DLT Template Registration.
- Configure Exotel -- Enter your Entity ID in the Exotel Dashboard under Settings > SMS Settings.
Cross-Portal Synchronization
Your entity registration is shared across all DLT portals via the blockchain. However, synchronization takes time:
| Action | Sync Time |
|---|---|
| New entity registration | 5-7 business days |
| Header registration | 3-5 business days |
| Template registration | 3-5 business days |
If you register your entity on Jio but your SMS is routed through an Airtel subscriber, the Airtel DLT system must also recognize your entity. Allow adequate sync time before going live.
Common Registration Issues
| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Application rejected | Document mismatch with company records | Ensure all documents match the legal entity name exactly |
| PAN verification failed | PAN does not match the company name | Use the company PAN, not personal PAN |
| GST mismatch | GSTIN not linked to the registered PAN | Verify GSTIN status on the GST portal |
| Long approval delay | High application volume | Follow up with portal support; typical SLA is 7 business days |
| Payment failure | Portal payment gateway issue | Try a different payment method or browser |
| Duplicate registration | Already registered on another portal | One registration is sufficient; use the existing Entity ID |
