Truecaller Verified Business Caller ID
Truecaller Verified Business Caller ID displays your company name, logo, and a verification badge on the recipient's phone when you make outbound calls. This builds trust, increases answer rates, and reduces the chance of your calls being marked as spam.
Why Truecaller Verification Matters
When you make outbound calls using an ExoPhone, the recipient typically sees only the phone number. Many people ignore calls from unknown numbers, resulting in low answer rates. With Truecaller verification:
| Without Truecaller | With Truecaller |
|---|---|
Recipient sees: +91-80-4712XXXX | Recipient sees: Acme Corp (verified) |
| Unknown number -- likely ignored | Recognized business -- likely answered |
| May be flagged as spam | Verified badge prevents spam flagging |
| Answer rate: 20-35% | Answer rate: 45-65% |
How It Works
Your outbound call via Exotel
|
v
Exotel places the call with your ExoPhone as caller ID
|
v
Recipient's phone queries Truecaller
|
v
Truecaller matches ExoPhone to your verified business profile
|
v
Recipient sees: "Acme Corp ✓" with your logo
Truecaller has over 350 million active users globally and is especially popular in India and Southeast Asia. Verifying your business caller ID reaches a significant portion of your customer base.
Prerequisites
- An active Exotel account with ExoPhones
- A registered business entity
- Business name, logo, and details for verification
- Truecaller for Business account (Exotel can help set this up)
Setting Up Truecaller Verification
Step 1: Register with Truecaller for Business
- Contact your Exotel account manager to initiate Truecaller verification.
- Exotel will guide you through the Truecaller for Business registration process.
- Alternatively, register directly at the Truecaller Business portal and link your Exotel numbers.
Step 2: Submit Business Details
Provide the following information:
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Business name | Legal or trading name | Acme Corporation |
| Phone numbers | ExoPhones to verify | +91-80-4712XXXX, +91-80-4712YYYY |
| Business logo | High-resolution logo (PNG, min 200x200) | acme-logo.png |
| Business category | Industry category | E-commerce, Healthcare, Finance |
| Business website | Company website URL | https://acme.com |
| Business address | Registered office address | 123 MG Road, Bangalore |
| Contact email | Business contact email | contact@acme.com |
Step 3: Verification Review
Truecaller reviews your submission to verify:
- The business is legitimate and registered
- The phone numbers belong to the business
- The logo and name are appropriate
Review timeline:
| Step | Duration |
|---|---|
| Submission | Immediate |
| Truecaller review | 3-7 business days |
| Approval and activation | 1-2 business days after review |
| Live display | Immediate after activation |
Step 4: Verification Active
Once approved, all outbound calls from your verified ExoPhones will display your business name and logo to Truecaller users.
What Recipients See
On Truecaller-Enabled Phones
- Business name: Your verified business name
- Verification badge: A green/blue verified checkmark
- Business logo: Your company logo
- Category: Business category (e.g., "E-commerce", "Bank")
- Call reason tag (optional): Short description like "Delivery Update" or "Payment Reminder"
On Non-Truecaller Phones
Recipients without Truecaller installed see only the ExoPhone number (standard behavior). Truecaller verification has no effect on these devices.
Call Reason Tags
Some Truecaller plans support call reason tags -- a short text displayed alongside your business name that tells the recipient why you are calling:
| Tag | Use Case |
|---|---|
| "Delivery Update" | Logistics and e-commerce deliveries |
| "Payment Reminder" | Payment follow-ups |
| "Appointment Reminder" | Healthcare, salon, service appointments |
| "Customer Support" | Callback from support team |
| "Sales Inquiry" | Follow-up on lead or inquiry |
Configure call reason tags through the Truecaller for Business dashboard or via Exotel's integration settings.
Managing Multiple Numbers
If you have multiple ExoPhones for different purposes, you can verify each with different display names:
| ExoPhone | Verified Name | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| +91-80-4712XX01 | Acme Corp - Sales | Outbound sales calls |
| +91-80-4712XX02 | Acme Corp - Support | Customer support callbacks |
| +91-80-4712XX03 | Acme Corp - Delivery | Delivery and logistics calls |
Each ExoPhone can have its own name, logo, and category.
Impact on Business Metrics
| Metric | Typical Improvement |
|---|---|
| Answer rate | 30-50% increase |
| Spam reports | 70-90% reduction |
| Customer trust | Significant improvement |
| Callback rate | Fewer callbacks needed (issue resolved on first attempt) |
| Campaign efficiency | More contacts reached per campaign |
Monitoring and Analytics
Truecaller Dashboard
Access the Truecaller for Business dashboard to monitor:
- Number of calls displayed with your business name
- Percentage of recipients who are Truecaller users
- Spam report trends
- Verification status of your numbers
Exotel Integration
Combine Truecaller insights with Call Analytics to measure:
- Answer rate difference between verified and unverified numbers
- Campaign performance with Truecaller vs. without
- Geographic distribution of Truecaller users in your call list
Maintaining Your Verification
Keeping Your Profile Updated
- Update your business name, logo, or details through the Truecaller for Business portal.
- Changes are reviewed and take 3-5 business days to reflect.
Adding New Numbers
When you purchase new ExoPhones, submit them for Truecaller verification separately. New numbers are not automatically verified.
Handling Spam Reports
If your verified number receives spam reports:
- Truecaller may temporarily flag or unverify the number.
- Review your calling practices (calling times, DND compliance, call frequency).
- Contact Exotel support to resolve the issue with Truecaller.
Even with Truecaller verification, calling DND-registered numbers or making excessive unsolicited calls can result in your verification being revoked. Always comply with TRAI regulations and respect customer preferences.
Best Practices
- Verify all outbound ExoPhones -- Every ExoPhone used for outbound calls should be verified.
- Use call reason tags -- Give recipients context about why you are calling.
- Keep information current -- Update your business details when they change.
- Monitor spam reports -- Low spam reports help maintain your verified status.
- Combine with good calling practices -- Truecaller verification is not a substitute for calling at appropriate times and respecting opt-outs.
- Track answer rates -- Compare answer rates before and after verification to quantify the impact.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Business name not showing | Verification not yet active | Wait for Truecaller review (3-7 days) |
| Showing on some phones but not others | Recipient does not have Truecaller | Only Truecaller users see the verified display |
| Number flagged as spam | Excessive calling or DND violations | Review calling practices and DND compliance |
| Verification revoked | Spam reports exceeded threshold | Contact Exotel to investigate and reapply |
| Logo not appearing | Image format or size incorrect | Upload PNG, minimum 200x200 pixels |
| Wrong business name showing | Old or incorrect profile data | Update profile in Truecaller for Business portal |
